Kate Middleton and Prince William are just days away from their first Christmas as man and wife, and it’s set to be a bumper affair if the rumours about what’s in store for them are to be believed!
Most of the senior royals, including Prince William and his wife, now formally known as the Duchess of Cambridge, will be dispatched across the globe to help the aging monarch celebrate her Diamond Jubilee in grand style.
Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip, are planning to mark the event with a series of tours throughout England to culminate with a celebration in London in early June that will include an unprecedented pageant on the River Thames with up to 1000 boats taking part.
Kate will need a casual oufit for breakfast, a suit and hat for morning church service, a dress for lunch, a cocktail dress for early-evening drinks and a full-length dress for the evening meal," explains royal-etiquette expert Jean Broke-Smith. "The golden rule is nothing too short, too revealing or too gaudy."
On Christmas Eve, the royals gather at 6 p.m. in the White Drawing Room around a 20-foot Christmas tree, cut from the estate and decorated by the Queen herself. Then they exchange presents. "Kate knows the Queen likes high-tech gadgets, but William has told her to keep it simple and give something like homemade jam," confides the friend. "The royals regard expensive gifts as vulgar and not in keeping with the true spirit of Christmas."
According to the Mirror, Kate and Wills will arrive at Sandringham Manor in Norfolk at around 4pm on Christmas Eve, where they will enjoy tea before being invited to open their gifts alongside the Queen.
Apparently the Royals enjoy buying novelty presents for each other, with previous exchanges said to include a pair of Mickey Mouse socks which the late Princess Diana gave to Prince Charles.
The family traditionally exchanges gifts at Sandringham on Christmas Eve.
